Key accomplishments and events in 2023.
1. COBA was awarded QCO (Qualified Charitable Organization) status by AZ Dept of Revenue
2. COBA received two recognition plaques, one from ICNA and the other from BAP
AZ Programs: Source: Tax credit + regular donations (zakat+sadaqa)
1. Provided iftar packs to refugees and low income families
2. Distributed dry food to on average 55 families per month in Arizona for a total of 500 families
3. Provided cash to 23 families who are in need of financial assistance due to medical or other needs
Bangladesh Programs: Source: Regular donations (zakat + sadaqa)
1. Funded Rangpur Eye Clinic, Mirpur Eye Center and one in Sylhet for eye screening and cataract surgeries. Eye screened and cataract surgery performed on patients in Rangpur, Dhaka and Sylhet. Due to severe cold surgeries are delayed until weather improves.
2. Dry food distributed to low income families. 150 in Rangpur, 100 in Chattogram
3. Fed 1000 orphans during Ramadan in Chattogram
4. Annual funding provided to Etimkhana (Balika Sadan with ~24 females) in Chattogram
5. Annual funding provided to Kisholoy Pre-School for special need children in Dhamrai, Dhaka
6. Annual funding provided for 2 nursing student’s education in Chattogram
7. Funded NSS in Sylhet and provided 530 blankets to needy children and families.
8. Funded DADUS which distributed goats for breeding and sewing machines to women to earn a living. Six diabetes patients were given medicine for 6 months.
